Mom, at first it was difficult to get along with you, and that was because I didn’t understand your personality. But the moment I came to understand the kind of person you were—your tenderness—our relationship became more of a mother-and-daughter relationship than that of a mother-in-law and daughter-in-law relationship. Our relationship blossomed.

You showed me and my kids unconditional love, Mom. You received us into your home with open arms, and for that I’m truly grateful.

Mami, things have not been the same ever since I heard about your demise. I know I can’t question God, but I wish you would have stayed longer on earth. I love you, Mami, and your memory will forever remain in my heart.

Go well, Mami, and if possible, greet Ndeze for me.

Adios, Mami.
