Hello everyone, my name is Daniel Asong. My grandmother was always a special person in my life. In the short life that I have lived, I can share many stories about her with great value. One thing that stood out was her humor.
When I was younger, I used to cry a lot. But whenever I cried for whatever reason in front of her, she would always laugh. In that moment, I probably felt even more mad, but looking back, it shows how much affection she had in her.
When she had her first stroke, I always felt that there was something missing in my life—and it was her light, the light she shined on everybody in my family. The beautiful part is that when she only partially recovered from her stroke, she recognized me and my brother, Casey, and I will never forget that. She used to say, “My boys,” whenever she saw me and my brother, whether over the phone or in person. That really showed how much she loved her grandchildren.
She was the grandmother that I was closest to, and even though she has passed, I will never forget her bravery, strength, courage, and kindness—things she made evident every day. It makes me happy hearing that she died peacefully. I just want to thank her for everything she did to make my life better. Her life will have a lasting impact on my own life. I am saddened about her death, but I am even more thankful that I got to know her.
